HELLFEST OPEN AIR FESTIVAL V
The Hellfest Open Air celebrates its 5 anniversary in 2010!
The Hellfest festival will celebrate its 5th edition on the 18, 19 and 20 of June 2010, having already established itself as a festival that can't be ignored!
After the success of 2009, the Hellfest Open Air's 5th edition will take place the 18, 19 and 20 of June 2010, on the same site as last year's: Clisson's Val de Moine sports complex, right in the heart of the Nantes vineyards.
This year's edition already promises to be the "Metal event" of 2010, the most important ever organized in France! Indeed, during the 3 days, the public will be able to discover or rediscover 114 bands of international acclaim, a veritable marathon of extreme music. Hellfest 2010 will present on four stages a large selection of all the styles like: Hard Rock, Black Metal, Heavy Metal, Hardcore, Death Metal, Glam, Sludge, Doom, Grind, Thrash, Indus, Progressif, Punk, Rock, Desert Rock etc.
The festival-goers will also rediscover the Extrem Market with more than 50 stalls, a tattoo convention, diversified catering and restoration, a wine bar, a bar with special guest beers and many very extreme activities and entertainment!
The Hellfest is an open air concert, on a meticulously well decorated and illuminated site, just a small walk from the center of Clisson! Which in itself is a cultural and historical town. A town where there will be many expositions and numerous things to do during the Hellfest weekend. We highly recommend visiting this welcoming town during your stay and cannot emphasize enough how much you will enjoy it.
Last but not least, the campsite and its Metal Corner will the perfect place to start the night or continue the party after the concerts. The ideal place to meet people!
The program includes: concerts, Dj sets, and once again activities of all sorts ! For sure, this years' Hellfest will still not only be a series of concerts playing one after the other on 4 stages, but a festival of extreme magnitude . This year Hellfest will be THE place for extreme-music lovers. A moment of 100% pleasure and relaxation, the guitar sounds, will allow everybody to escape the surrounding gloom by recharging ones batteries with positive energy! Wicked!
As last year's edition was rapidly sold out, it is strongly recommended to book your tickets in advance. The organization wishes at all costs that the Hellfest Open Air keeps a human dimension, this is why the sites' capacity is not unlimited therefore this year again we will welcome only 20 000 persons per day, and knowing that compared to last year the pre-sales have already tripled: if you try to book late you will be really disappointed to miss this amazing event.
During the three days, Clisson will become a veritable "Babel’s Tower", a hot spot for a public of over 50 different nationalities getting together around one true passion: extreme music! Starting from 20 000 festival-goers in 2006 to 60 000 in 2009 the Hellfest managed to place itself as a massive European festival, combining a unique extreme schedule which is recognized today throughout the world for its quality and human dimension averaging 20 000 festival-goers per day! Add to that the welcome, the atmosphere, the setting and the ideal comfort and conditions which will allow you to make the most of the bands (you are never further than 80 meters from a stage!) This is one of the few places you should not miss this summer!
We are going to pull out all stops to make this year Hellfest the best and the most memorable ever. So if you haven't yet discovered the unique atmosphere of this festival, you know what you have got to do!
Things to remember:
4 stages, two open air and two covered
114 bands
60 000 festivals-goers from 50 different nationalities expected
A campsite area of 20 hectares with its Metal Corner ( tent with concerts and DJs ..)
An extreme Market with more than 50 exponents ( labels, independent sellers, street wear .. )
A Tattoo convention
Many entertainments
A dozen concerts, brass bands, and expositions in the center of Clisson on the Saturday and the Sunday
An exceptional decoration and a light setting as well as projections on the site
A cheap bus service between the site and Clisson
Several pyrotechnic shows during the main headlines of the festival
Lots of bars, one of whom a wine bar, a bar with special guest beers and diversified catering at reasonable prices
A relaxed, festive and unique atmosphere where the biggest metal artists will give all they've got so that the Hellfest 2010 happens to be the biggest event of the kind ever organized in France.
FINAL LINE UP!!!
Here we are! Today’s the final band announcement for Hellfest 2010. We hope you will appreciate the whole line-up and rank it as one of the best extreme and eclectic bill of 2010. Once again, we tried to satisy the most demanding fans. Here’s the last batch for this year’s edition:
ALICE COOPER - DEFTONES - MOTORHEAD - SLAYER - FEAR FACTORY - SAXON - AIRBOURNE - FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM - INFECTIOUS GROOVES - STONE SOUR - CARCASS - HYPOCRISY - ANNIHILATOR - EXODUS - DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT - MASS HYSTERIA - DOOM - DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN - AS I LAY DYING - UNEARTH - ELECTRIC MARY VULCAIN - BLASPHEME - KALISIA - TAMTRUM
Thrash metal will be back in force with Slayer, Annihilator and Exodus, the latter dedicating its whole set to its cult album, Bonded By Blood. This will be a head-banging fest with already confirmed acts such as Evile (the new sensation), Tankard, (the gods of beer-smelling thrash metal) and Overkill, coming back stronger than never with their new opus, the mighty Ironbound. As if this was not enough, let us remind you that Nevermore will be there too! Make sure to prepare your neck for some serious head-banging or heads will roll…
Death and Grind will not be left aside as Carcass will come back to Clisson in June. You did not witness its performance in 2008? This is a unique remedial class for you as the Brits will play their cult album Necrotism in its entirety! By the way, you can bet that the band will not play for a while after this…so this is definitely not to be missed! Death fanatics will be treated with a very fine selection of first-class death metal combos: Behemoth, Bloodbath, Nile, Loudblast, Suffocation, Asphyx et many more…
Mike Muir was so overwhelmed by the crowd response during Suicidal Tendencies’ performance last year that he will be back to Clisson with Infectious Grooves. If the energy and fun attitude is the same than for last year’s Suicidal Tendencies’ set, this will definitely be a show to remember. Be prepared for some a violent and funky shock treatment!
Field Of The Nephilim is very rarely seen in France. It is an honour for Hellfest to welcome the band for its long awaited return to France. The very peculiar and fascinating Goth Rock of McCoy and his bandmates will bewitch many festival-goers.
Festival-goers who watched Airbourne’s set back in 2008 can still remember an incredible and energetic show. Heirs to AC/DC, the Australians will be back to Clisson on a much higher rank on the bill, due to their increasing popularity in France and everywhere else. Be warned: Airbourne could become the biggest rock n’roll band on Earth in the near future!
Deftones are probably the most respected musicians in the world of Nu-Metal due to their integrity towards music business. Despite being confronted with tragedies (their bassist, Chi Cheng is in a coma since a car accident since November 2008), the band is stronger than ever. With Sergio Vega (ex-Quicksand) playing bass guitar and a new album to be released a few weeks before their Hellfest performance, the guys from Sacramento are ready to show that they have not lost any of their rage and intensity on stage.
What about some ‘French touch’? Some of the best French acts will be there too : Loudblast (the masters of French Death Metal since the 90s), Mass Hysteria (the national leaders of the Nu-Metal scene), Tamtrum (the new Electro-Rock sensation), Vulcain and Blaspheme (godfathers of French Hard Rock), Prog-Rockers Kalisia as well as Death and Black Metallers Gorod and Otargos…
The presence of England’s Doom will probably please festival-goers who especially appreciate cult bands (such as Amebix last year). Believe it or not, but the band enjoyed Hellfest 2009’s line up so much that they asked us to be booked in 2010! If you’re not familiar with the band, check out its discography as well as some literature: the biggest Sludge, Punk, Crust, Grind, Crossover and D-Beat bands never lose an occasion to praise the influence of the Birmingham-based cult band on their music.
The line-up of Hellfest 2010 is now complete…See you in June and keep an eye on www.hellfest.fr for more information!
